Cassie and Evan launch a daring mission to infiltrate the base and rescue Sam. In the climactic finale, Cassie, Ben, and Sam escape just as Evan triggers an explosion to destroy the facility. Though the war is far from over, Cassie remains hopeful that humanity can fight back.
The 5th Wave received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, with many citing its unoriginal plot and pacing issues. However, ChloΓ« Grace Moretzβs performance was praised. The film grossed around $110 million worldwide against a $54 million budget but underperformed in comparison to other YA dystopian adaptations like The Hunger Games and Divergent.
